Blog #12 - A little bit of Paganism with our Jesus

Here we go again. Once again I am stunned and appalled at the church. The scripture tells us that in the last days “Knowledge Shall Abound” but it seems not to be true concerning the church. Have you ever heard the statement, “the dumbing down of America?” Well, what about the church? Some people seem to believe that I invented the word “Stupid”. No, but its a lot like Forrest Gump says,”Stupid is as stupid does”.

Let me explain. Recently I read and article on WND with this title, “ARE JESUS AND THE EASTER BUNNY BEST PALS?” The story is supposedly about a little girl (3) who is asking her Father what the connection is between the Easter Bunny and Christ’s resurrection. She asked her Dad if the Easter bunny and Jesus were pals. And, she is confused. She asked, “is the Easter Bunny in the Bible?” That would be my question exactly! And, “does he always carry around a basket of eggs?” Now comes the important question or statement from a 3 year old that evidently most Christian adults haven’t said or thought about, “But bunnies don’t lay eggs”. Now listen to Dad, “…the most important thing is that we have fun together”. You remember the comedian who would say at this point, “Here’s your sign”. And the sign would say, “Don't mind me, I’m just stupid”.

Now let me quote from the article. “The funny thing is, Easter has hopped right off the page of the Bible. It only appears once in the KJV, and nearly every other Bible since 1611 has taken it out, because they realize that word (Easter) shouldn’t be there. It’s a mistranslation of the word “pascha” in Gk, which means Passover.”

But Easter itself, people don’t know what it means. It’s the actual name of the Babylonian, pagan fertility goddess and goddess of the dawn associated with all kinds of fertility symbols like eggs and bunny rabbits and little chicks and all that kind of thing. It has nothing to do with the Bible. It has nothing to do with the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”

In order to get from my house to INT. 540, which is about 2-3 miles, I have to pass by 3 Easter advertisements. The last house before leaving our neighborhood has giant Easter eggs in it. Oh the pain it must have caused that rabbit! The next one on the way is evidently the home of a Christian. He has a male mannequin out front of his house with a white dress and a long black wig on it. I know he is trying to represent Jesus and I applaud his effort. But, it looks like he also has a wheel barrel with Easter eggs in it. The last place is a “Church” with a large banner outside that speaks of a sunrise service on Easter morning with special announcement of an Easter Egg Hunt to finish out the celebration. And, of course, the parking lot was full! WOW!!! I want to say, ”Here’s another sign.” Or maybe we should ask them what Jenny asked Forrest on the bus.

Think about this. We take the Holiest Day of the year, of all time, the one event that cost God His only begotten son and mix paganism with it. The main event of all history. The whole purpose of Jesus coming to earth. John said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who taketh away the sin of the world”. No other day in history matches the Resurrection. He had to die and raise again on the third day. He was born to die. “He was raised for our justification” or when we were justified!!! Now I know how to build a church. You know what? The whole bunch is backslid and as one man would say, “they wouldn’t recognize God if he walked down the street with a red hat on”. I wonder if they even know why they had sunrise service. Tradition without understanding. Help us Jesus! We need to REPENT!

And what did Forrest answer Jenny, “Stupid is as stupid does”? The meaning is, You may act like you’re intelligent but if you keep doing stupid things, you’re just stupid, that’s all. I’ve got to clean out all those signs out of my garage. PJ
