The Dog Ate My Chicken
I've been married to the same woman for 53 years. That is a lifetime to many people. There were about 2 of those 53 that we were separated but we did not get a divorce. I remember well at the end of that 2 year period I accepted Jesus as my Lord. Now that I was a Christian, I knew I had to do what was right. So, I tried to make amends, asked her to forgive me and hoped that she would but funny thing, she didn't. I went through many hoops trying to win her heart back to me, but it looked to no avail. We actually did get back with each other for a couple of months, but her heart was elsewhere. By the way, this is not a save your marriage story.
I remember one day asking her to go on a picnic with me, and after much persuasion, she agreed to go. I guess for old times' sake. Believe me. it was a bad day! I will explain. She agreed to bring the chicken and come out to where I was living at the time. When she arrived, she got out of the car and left the door open with the box of Colonel Sanders fried chicken on the front seat. We talked for a while and then decided where we were going. We went to the car and saw a dog in the front seat eating our chicken. The rest of the day was a bust! It went downhill from there and the dog ate my chicken!
There is a story in Matthew 15 of a woman from Canaan (a Gentile Heathen) who came to Jesus asking for help for her daughter who was grievously vexed with a devil (demon). She cried out to Jesus but "he answered her not a word." His disciples wanted him to run her off. Then the Word says she came and worshipped Him, saying, Lord help me.
Now listen to how Jesus answered her request. "It is not meet (proper) to take the children's bread and to cast it to the dogs." Then she said, "Truth, Lord, yet the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their master's table." Wow! He calls her a dog, she agrees, and then she calls Him her master. In other words, "Yes, Lord, I am a dog and I have no rights at all." Jesus then said the woman's faith was great and her daughter was made whole that very hour.
Get to the point, Jimmy! O.K. - whose bread was it that she wanted? (It makes no difference if it was bread, shrimp, or chicken!) a dog ate the bread that belonged to the children. Are you going to let a dog eat your bread? If you are being taught that healing is not for today or you may even think you have gone so far that God won't heal you, you are allowing a real dog to eat or steal your bread or what rightfully belongs to you.
As a child of God, you have certain rights that belong to you. Don't sit there and die. Take this story and go to God presenting your rights. What have you got to lose? He said to us in Isaiah 43:26, "Put me in remembrance; let us plead (argue) together; declare thou (state your case), that thou mayest be justified (proved right).
With what God has said to us here in His Word, there is not a court on earth (that is fair and just) that would cast a verdict against you. Take your case to the court in Heaven and demand you healing! Act like a lawyer and present precedence unto the judge and demand your rights! One of the definitions of "ask" in the book of John is "demand." Tell him you have rights because of Jesus and tell him you are there to collect! If he doesn't answer, ask him if he is an unjust judge! WOW!
